Book of Mormon – Prince of Wales Theatre

From Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the team behind South Park, comes another outrageous and satirical comedy in the form of a live musical. If you’re looking for a calming and non-offensive trip to the theatre, that this is not, as the comedy team take a satirical look at religion. However, at its heart, this musical has love at its heart, and some incredibly catchy songs to match.

Les Miserables – Queens Theatre

The classic book from Victor Hugo is given a stage adaptation in this thrilling musical. Bringing 19th century Paris to life, the French Revolution is staged through the eyes of several characters. As one of the longest running musicals in the world, having been running in London continuously since 1985. For a piece of musical legend, as well as some of the best-known performers on the West End, then Les Mis is a sure fire must see.

Disney’s Aladdin – Prince of Wales Theatre

One of the more recent musicals on this list, Disney’s Aladdin is an adaptation of the film of the same name. Following the adventures of Aladdin and his magic genie, this musical is a magical ride for all ages, and will no doubt instil nostalgia in those familiar with the 90’s film on which it is based. With an original US production dating back to 2011, the Aladdin Musical has now reached the UK and plays at the Prince of Wales Theatre.

Matilda the Musical – Cambridge Theatre

Based on the Roald Dahl book and written by Tim Minchin and Dennis Kelly, this award-winning musical is a wickedly dark musical which brings the spirit of the original novel to the stage. Fans of the film will find iconic scenes being brought to life on stage here, with the famous pigtail spinning scene and ghostly blackboard writing striking magic in the memory for years to come.

School of Rock – New London Theatre

It is surprising that School of Rock hasn’t been brought to the stage before its debut in 2015, but this rock musical focussing on the efforts of Dewey Finn to create a school rock band when impersonating a substitute teacher. The musical brings all the great hits from the film, alongside original music from the film alongside it.
